JBYSY exists because too many Nigerian and diaspora couples discover, after the wedding, that the conversations they didn't have were the ones that mattered most. Our work is to surface those conversations beforehand — in writing, with structure, before the "yes" is final.
What we noticed in the
counselling sessions.
After more than three decades of counselling work in Lagos and beyond, we kept seeing the same shape of conversation. Two people, deeply in love, two weeks before their wedding, discovering for the first time that they'd never actually discussed how money would work, or who the in-laws would visit, or what church they'd call home.
We did our best inside that compressed window. But the conversations needed to happen earlier, in a more structured way — and ideally outside the pressure of the room.
JBYSY is the tool we wished we'd had. A structured, faith-informed, Nigerian-context assessment that surfaces the right questions before the day they have to be answered.
What we've built — and
how it works.
Every score, every alignment view, every safeguarding flag — produced by a deterministic pipeline you can audit. No black-box AI. No opaque psychometric.
A structured 135-question bank.
Calibrated for the Nigerian context. Ten thematic modules — spiritual, emotional, communication, conflict, finance, family & in-laws, roles, intimacy, life goals, background.
Weighted module scoring.
Each module carries a calibrated weight in the Composite Readiness Index. Forty-four critical-weight items count 1.5× because they pivot on a decision you'll have to make before the wedding.
Reverse items and honest N/A.
Twenty-seven items are reverse-scored. Twenty-four are N/A-eligible — answering "does not apply" removes the question from the module total, never inflating or deflating a score.
Safeguarding pathway, by design.
A specific set of responses route the report onto a separate pathway. Support resources, helplines, and referrals replace ordinary module commentary — never the other way around.
Versioned. Reproducible.
Question bank, feedback library, and scoring engine are each versioned. Your past report can always be regenerated from the version that produced it.

Pastor and technologist. Owns the platform engineering — the scoring engine, the data architecture, the security posture, and the operational infrastructure JBYSY runs on.

First Class graduate in Psychology, University of Ghana. Iromwenguosa brings academic grounding in human behaviour and psychological assessment to the JBYSY methodology, strengthening the scientific rigour behind the instrument.
